Asquith Xavier honoured with Blue Plaque at Notting Hill home
A Blue Plaque now marks the Ledbury Road home of Asquith Xavier, the first Black guard at Euston Station. His 1966 fight against a racist colour bar forced British Railways to overturn its policy, ending formal discrimination in London’s rail jobs. The plaque was unveiled on 15 August 2026.
