Charing Cross and Waterloo East stations reopened on 17 August 2026 after a £20 million upgrade. Network Rail replaced nearly two kilometres of track, rebuilt platforms, and installed self-cleaning glass at Waterloo East. The work was completed in one 22-day closure instead of 60 weekends.

Southeastern will cancel, divert or replace trains with buses from 3 to 7 August for engineering work. Replacement buses will run between Maidstone East and Ashford, Bromley South and Victoria, and Gillingham and Faversham. London Victoria to Orpington trains will skip stops after midnight.
