South Western Railway reports up to 95% of barcode tickets between Vauxhall and Waterloo are used fraudulently, costing £1 million annually. A June 2026 enforcement operation identified 153 cases in four weeks, compared to seven last year. Fare evasion across the network has fallen by 67% since 2017.
