Roding Valley recorded 130,000 entries and exits in 2025, making it the quietest station on the London Underground. Located on the Hainault loop, it serves a small residential area with no ticket barriers and a single ticket machine. Transport for London data shows the loop carries 600 weekday peak travellers, compared with 8,000 on the Epping branch.

Thames Water engineers are repairing a burst water main on Chigwell Road in Redbridge, disrupting supply to thousands of homes across east London and Essex. A drive-through bottled water station is operating at Tesco on Southend Road until 9pm on 9 August 2026.
